Home

I miss home  and everything that comes with it. I've now been away from home (Kalamazoo, MI) for five months. This is the longest time away I have ever spent in my 26.5 years of my life. Guess I'm growing up! Cannot wait to go back this summer! The Youngblood residence has evolved quite a bit over the years. My parents bought the property over 25 years ago when it was just a lot of trees. They tore the trees down and built the house from the ground up. I remember when we had a one car garage, no drive-way and an above ground pool.. those were the days :) Now our house has evolved in an estate of a two-car garage with a carport, an underground pool, two ponds and one bog along with my grandma's little apartment style house and the most spectacular garden that has a lot of blood, sweat and tears all over every inch of the grounds.

SNOW DAY!

Unlike us Michiganders who have to have to trudge to school and/or work in 4 + feet of snow, the entire town of Seattle shuts down with a mere 5 inches of snow. Now, I'm not complaining because yesterday was the best snow day ever! Because of the 'state of emergency' myself, my brother, my sister-in-law and our friend Jesse all were able to enjoy a happy snow day together. The street we live on is on top of a giant hill in Magnolia. The street was shut down for vehicle traffic but that didn't stop us along with the entire neighborhood to break out sleds, skies, bloat up boats, snowboards, tupperware, whatever people could get their hands on to jet down the hill. After only three runs down the hill, three deep in the blow up boat, it saw it's last day. We rode the curb for far too long before we slid to an abrupt halt because of the deflated boat. That didn't stop us from enjoying the rest of our snow day outside with our fellow neighbors! Happy Snow DayS Seattle!

City and Colour

On Monday after work my boss called me to tell me he just bought two tickets to the City and Colour concert at the Neptune Theatre.. for me !! Lurve my boss. I dragged Jessica along with me in the cold, cold weather to see the amazing performance! They even made fun of Seattle and our crazy reactions to the non-existence of snow. Yup, embarrassing Seattle. The opening act 'The Low Anthem' was a mix of blue grass and folk to set the mood. Check them out at http://www.lowanthem.com/site/ I need more live music in my life.

the low anthem .. they remind me of the type of group to play at Bell's Brewery back home in Kalamazoo, MI

POWDER

Today was the best snow of 2012 on the mountain. Crystal Mountain got pounded with 11" of fresh snow and didn't stop there. From the time we arrived at 9 am until the time we left at 4 pm the snow didn't stop falling. All morning the sun kept trying to come out but never fully showed her face. After spending a little too long in the bar at lunch time watching the football game and chasing down some Blue Moon's we headed back out to more fresh snow. I adventured off to do my first trail runs alone and was successful at not falling.. I think the liquid courage helped.  Amazing day!

Crystal Mountain

I can't remember the last time I laughed as hard as I did today :)

Sail Away - David Gray

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

Crazy skies all wild above me now
Winter howling at my face
And everything I held so dear
Disappeared without a trace
Oh all the times I've tasted love
Never knew quite what I had
Little Darling if you hear me now
Never needed you so bad
Spinning round inside my head

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

I've been talking drunken gibberish
Falling in and out of bars
Trying to get some explanation here
For the way some people are
How did it ever come so far

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now
Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

Blue Moons and Sunshine

Today started out at 5:30 am for a day of shred at Crystal Mountain with my brother, Cody and sister-in-law, Jessica. The hour and a half drive from Seattle was absolutely beautiful as we watched the sunrise over the mountain tops. We arrived at the base around 8:45 am just in time for the 9 am first chair. The weather was perfect all day, the sun was shining and the snow was perfect. My first run down was on my own which led me to getting a little lost since I have never been to Crystal before. I ended up meeting up with Codes and Jess two runs later. We met some great people on the lifts and had an injury free day. After our lunch break Jess and I had some liquid courage to get us through the rest of the day :) We love Blue Moons!
